REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Regional Economic Development Program (RED) works towards increasing regional economic competitiveness in a comprehensive approach that integrates the public and the private sector, as well as civil society.

RED is cooperation program between the governments of the Republic of Indonesia and the Federal Republic of Germany. It is jointly implemented by the National Planning and Development Agency (BAPPENAS) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ).

The RED Program is currently compiling information for the establishment of the National LRED Expert Pool. The National LRED Expert Pool is one of the core elements of the overall LRED Framework in Indonesia.

If you have a sound knowledge of the concepts and strategies of LRED, particularly if you have experience in the facilitation of LRED initiatives, then join the National LRED Expert Pool.

RED Office in West Kalimantan Launched

Image The regional office for GTZ RED in West Kalimantan was officially launched on December 22, 2009 to support the regional economic development program in Singkawang, Bengkayang and Sambas (SINGBEBAS). The office is located in Bappeda office complex in Singkawang.

Comparative LRED Study Trip to Germany and China and Input for the RPJM 2010 - 2014

Image Bappenas currently is preparing the National Development Plan RPJM 2010-2014. Bappenas, through the Directorate of Urban and Rural Development, has been working closely with the GTZ RED Programme to develop a national strategy for local and regional economic development (LRED) as an input for the RPJM.

As preparatory work for the national LRED strategy Bappenas conducted a comprehensive evaluation of previous LRED activities as well as a comparative study trip to Germany and China in order to learn from overseas experiences how national LRED Strategies are developed and implemented.
